The Family Leisure Centre played host to 27 lacrosse teams from Alberta and Saskatchewan Saturday as the inaugural Devil’s Duel 4 on 4 tournament took place.

In the Tyke division championship the Medicine Hat Little Devils took on the Burninators from Calgary. A hard fought battle between the two teams saw the Burninators come away with a 5-2 win and the first ever Devil’s Duel championship banner.

“I thought they played their hearts out,” said Little Devils Head Coach Nick Richards after the game. “Calgary played an awesome game and it went back and forth, lots of shots, that’s all we can ask for.”

After four games in one day, Luke Richards of the Little Devils said he was going to be pretty tired once he got home that evening.

“It was fun,” he said, adding that the tournament helped him gear up for the upcoming lacrosse season. “You can learn more moves.”

Novice was on tap next and once again Medicine Hat faced off against a team from Calgary. Diamond H and its squad comprised of Calgarians prevailed.

The PeeWee Handsome Devils from the Gas City were hoping that the third time would be the charm against a Calgary team in their championship. However Diamond H grabbed their second banner of the night with a 6-4 win over the devilishly handsome ‘Hatters.

In the Bantam title game Diamond H collected their third banner of the evening with a win over the Chrome Donkeys from Medicine Hat. Wrapping up a busy day of lacrosse at the FLC was the Saskatoon Smash edging the Strathmore Venom in a shoot out to claim the Midget championship.

Once again, thank you to StayInMedicineHat.com for their sponsorship of this event.
